I love Canadian Geese. They are all over the place here in Huntsville. You can’t go by many ponds without seeing a bunch of them. I went down to Big Spring Park yesterday on my lunch hour to snap away…

I love this one in Black & White. Check out their reflections and the fact that they are all looking the same direction.

I love it in color too!

And this one if for my mom…every time I go to the park she asks where the red bike is. There are two red bikes that I know of in the park for art.

And when I got home, my husband had the lawn cut and a bunch of Robins were checking out what was new to feed on with the shorter grass. So I continues with a few more snaps. I can never remember what the purple plant is. I want to say lavender, but I think I’m wrong. It grows on it’s own in the front of our house, planted by the previous home owner.

Project 52 - Week 34

I was in the shop helping my husband with a project this evening and looked to the back of the yard and saw this. It spoke to me. I liked the light rays peaking through and the pattern it projected. Nothing too exciting, but it’s the photo of the week folks

Sometimes I wonder why I push myself to share one photo every week on a certain schedule. I’d almost rather share a few photos from something that inspired me to go out and shoot. So my question is….do you enjoy these one photo a week posts? Would anyone miss them if I stopped? So, what do you think….continue posting one a week or just post when I have more photos I consider share worthy? Just curious

Project 52 - Week 33

Yesterday the traffic was horrendous coming home so I took the long way home around the outside of town, mainly because I’d rather drive through the cotton fields and corn fields than be stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. This is when it’s so handy to have my camera purse so that I have my Nikon D90 with me everywhere I go. I drove past this old building and the green stripes caught my eye. I turned around to take a photo for my weekly project.

The thing I don’t like so much about my weekly project is that I limited myself to posting just one photo. But most times I’m out shooting, I take more than one shot that I find interesting. So, the one above is my “official” Project 52 photo…but instead of making another post, below are a few more I wanted to share.

I guess green is one of those colors I’m drawn too. I loved the muted greens on the gray building.

About another mile down the road I found some pinks

It had just finished raining and way off into the distance out over the cotton fields I couldn’t tell if I was seeing a rainbow or not. Do you see it? If so, it was just barely there, and more horizontal than an actual rainbow shape…

There are a few small restaurants you’ll find out in the middle of the fields. This one was open only for breakfast & lunch. They don’t look like much, but I bet the food is down home delicious!

Well, that’s it. A few miles down the road I was back to civilization and the local Publix grocery store. It’s amazing how far away you can feel from everything, just being on the outskirts of the main roads. Beats sitting in traffic…plus I got to snap a few photos. Good drive home!

The Outerbanks

Last week I took an amazing trip to the Outerbanks of North Carolina with five fantastic girls I met when I lived on Long Island. We rented the most adorable beach house one could imagine just a block from the ocean. I thought I would share some of the scenic shots I took while we were there.

We took a trip to the Bodie Lighthouse and were very bummed to find it under construction…so the photos look a little more like a water tower than a lighthouse…but, it is what it is!

I was excited to go out shooting with my friend Lauren who now lives in Boston. We chat about photography a lot online, and it was great to do it in person. You can check out her photography at Elle Esse Photography.

Project 52 - Week 32

Week 31 got away from me. I was editing portrait sessions, then off to the beach with some amazing girlfriends. Here is one of my favorite photos from the Outer Banks of North Carolina to share this week…

Being a Florida baby, the beach is one of those places I will always love to be.

Tristan’s Two

Look who’s two! Meet Tristan…(insert giggle)

We met up on Friday afternoon. This little guy had me running all around. At the age of two, the world is a big giant mystery and you must discover what’s behind every corner….and you must do so while pushing the stroller He was so cute and all he wanted to do was push his stroller around.

Being a little boy…playing with sticks!

He was also very much into the War Eagle chant for Auburn. Woo hoo!

Isn’t that black & white just precious? Too cute!

Another beautifully blue eyed client…I adore those blue eyes!

And at two, he knew he was ready to take over the world! This photo cracks me up. Too bad his fist is a little cut off…but you get the emotion behind the capture

Caitlin: Class of 2011

This was my first Senior Session and it could not have gone any better! Caitlin is a natural behind the camera and so photogenic. I loved walking around Downtown Huntsville picking out places to capture those perfect senior images for her. Caitlin was so laid back and easy to hang out with too. Thanks Caitlin for letting me photograph your Senior pics. I had a great time!

Sisters

Remember Peyton from the last blog post? Well, she’s back with her sister Caitlin. Both of these girls have amazing eyes and I’ve have been in heaven photographing them and editing their images.

We met up this morning in Downtown Huntsville for Caitlin’s Senior Session (that blog post is next) and we snapped a few of the two sisters together. Every mom loves photos of their children together!

Watching the ducks….sometimes I love photos of people enjoying the moment just as much as those of them looking right at the camera.

I love this next one. I think it is just cute, cute, cute!!!

Those Eyes!

I an absolutely in love with so many images from yesterday’s session with nine and a half year old Peyton. She has some ah-mazing eyes! I love light eyes! They just POP in photos…

This was a different kind of session for me. I’m used to photographing babies and toddlers, making a fool of myself, just dying to grasp their attention and that eye contact through the lens. Well, when I’m photographing a nine and a half year old, I can actually give a little bit of direction, and a response to boot! I find Peyton’s eyes mesmerizing. I’m sure you will too!
